Coronavirus VS Construction
Posted on 9th May 2020 at 16:13
A vast proportion of the construction industry has slowed its turning cogs in order to safely fight the Coronavirus. EBC is keeping its construction engine ticking over through the undertaking of small outdoor domestic projects following the strict guidelines outlined by the government.
It has not been unheard of for one our contractors to contact a homeowner from outside the property via Facetime or by shouting through a window! Social distancing measures of 2 metres (6 feet) are taken incredibly seriously amongst other stringent guidelines to carry out domestic outdoor projects safely and professionally.
On 8th April 2020, the UK Government released more guidance in relation to the construction industry continuing to operate during the COVID-19 crisis. On following these strict rules, EBC ensure the following:
Any contractor carrying carry out essential work is fit, well and not displaying any symptoms.
The homeowner is notified well in advance of the contractor’s arrival so to make the relevant preparations.
Upon the contractor’s arrival they will wash their hands with soap and water for the recommended 20 seconds. Contractors will also carry hand sanitiser to use at regular intervals. In complying with CDM we always have adequate welfare and are able to wash our hands at all times.
EBC are constantly evolving with the changing times we are currently facing to remain compliant. As you will be aware, we are waiting for another update from our PM tomorrow, so the guidelines may change once again. We regularly visit the GOV website to ensure that we continue to operate safely within government guidelines:
